hi guys,

i been some times i heard noise (like belt noise) then it stop in the engine hood.

these noise came as soon as i have changed all belts.

then today i notice that when the noise came the ac compressor stop running and is if it is blocked.

Do you think it is a bad blet or too large?

or too tied belt?

Did you get the factory serpentine belt? CONTITECH makes it and I believe it is a special belt design to stretch for this application because the ac belt has no tensioner. Make sure belt is completely seated in the grooves and not overhanging. If it is hanging off, replace the belt now, as it is too damaged to be reused.

From outside sources the CONTITECH belt is only $9-$12. From my dealer it is about $45. I think the part number is W1000-230329

I do not think a regular serpentine belt will give you the correct tension as it was not designed to stretch over the pulley during installation.

you think if got it replaced the noise will be over or the a/c compressor is making that noise?

If you are going to replace it... Cut it off.

Otherwise

http://forums.5serie...attach_id=60548

Putting it on is going to be a pain in the butt.

Unless you are going thru a BMW tech who has done this before, you are better off doing it yourself as no-one will have the proper tool ($120) to replace it and they will literary spend hours trying to figure out how to do it and may damage it in the process.

I have to put the little one to sleep but I will show you how to make the tool for less than $10

after you cut off the ac belt make sure the noise is gone. This way you know it was caused by either the belt or the compressor. If the noise is still there your problem is elsewhere.

Go to a cheap tool store that sells automotive tools.

Get a line clamp like this.

It will look something like this after the cut

(I cut off too much the first time so I painted some extra material)

Look how crudely similar the two tools are.

Only a $110 or so difference in cost for something you may use twice in your lifetime.
