Default why do ome size front m5 tires dont fit other e60s?

i found a nice m5 set of wheels to put on my non-sport 530i.
Have been doing some research, and apparently the stock 255-40-19 m5 tires rub on other e60 models?
can anyone confirm this? i dont understand why it would work on an m5 and dont on a regular e60
thanks for your time

e60 m5 fenders are flared out, allowing for a wider tire and wheel along with lower offset...

that tends to be the recommended size, that's the size I had when I had my 08 535i with 166's

5Series.net - Forums - Gene's Album: AW LCI 535i

e60 specs are in my sig..

try using the tire/rim calculator the forum provides. Upper Nav bar, under "Tools"

do you think it would be possible to get away with a 255/30/19 front tire for this wheels? (20 offset)

I'm personally running OEM 166 wheels with 245/40/19 in the front and 285/35/19 in the rear with 12mm spacer. Of course I'm on coilovers as well.

The short answer: Yes, you can "get away with it", but it WILL rub. The tire is simply too wide for non-M cars. The choices are: cut the inner fender wells to fit the new tires, or get an new set of front tires, and lastly buy M5 fenders and fender liners to fit M5 tires on your car (option 2 is the least costly and requires no changes to your car itself)

you could but you lose sidewall protection . optimum would be a 9 inch front with a 265/35!

Installing M5 fenders requires M5 front bumper if you want 100% fitment.
