Default Wheel Fitment Question?

Hi Guys,
I was just wondering if anyone could give me some advice regarding wheel fitment and spacer size.

Ive just got hold of a set of 19" wheels for my 2004 E60 525i however the fronts hit the shock and wont fit, so I'm assuming i need spacers.

they were fitted to a 520d originally so im sure there must be a way of fitting them.

the sizes on the rear of the wheels are:
5x120
ET 38
8.5JX19
H/H 72 (not sure what this is?)

and they are fitted with 235/35/19

any idea how i can get these to fit, and if i need spacers what size front and rear?

I would appreciate any help you fellow owners can give

72 should be the hub bore. for your 525i that offset is way too high. on a 19x8.5 you would want an offset around ET12-15, so you can put a 15mm spacer up front and should be fine.recommended tire size also would be 245/35/19.

Thanks NeRwEEzy, thats really helpful
so 15mm spacers should give me the clearance i need?

how about the rears? they seem fine as they are, but could i fit the 15mm spacers to them to to give them a slightly wider stance, or should i go larger?

would 20mm all round be ok?

it will depend on what the offset is for the rear wheels.

If your fronts are high offset, the rear should be too. Get an 18mm spacer for the rear.

Be sure to get the longer lug bolts too.

Thanks guys!
Yep rears are the same size as the front

Would an 18mm be ok on the rear without rubbing?

Just a thought, if my original is ET12-18 would an ET38 with a 15mm spacer still not be to high?

for spacers, the resulting offset would be the difference. so an ET38 wheel with a 15mm spacer would yield an offset of ET13.

Math is off.

15mm spacer on a et38 wheel will result in a et23 (which is okay). The majority of aftermarket wheels in a 8.5 width for the fronts are around et18. You would need a 20mm spacer to yield a et18.

If I were you, I'd run an 18mm front and 20mm rear spacer.
