Question for Tire\Wheel pros! - Bead Sealer
Hello,
About 11 months ago around January, I got a flat on the freeway and rode on my front driverside DPE rims with no air. Wheels are polished lips with brushed aluminum centers.
I took the wheel to a place to have it check for bends and if so have it fixed and for refinishing while I was at it. The wheel came back looking awesome.
Anyway, when I had the new tire re-mounted, I told the tire people to use some bead sealer as a precaution. 10.5 months later, I have been having slow leaks around the bead area that goes down about 10psi every 4 days.
My main question is, how good is the bead sealer? Is it supposed to be a temporary fix or can it be used permanently? Does the bead sealer eventually go bad after 10 months? Should I have the tire remounted and this time with NO bead sealer assuming the refinishing guy did a great job in the first place? At the time I thought the bead sealer would give me a permanent precautionary fix against leaks.
Your thoughts please!
Thanks!

Similar thing happened to me, except losing 10psi in 2 days on a new tire. Had the shop dismount, and they discovered their employee ripped the bead on installation. They covered the cost of replacement no questions asked.
