Installing e60 M5 Wheels on '10 535xi Sport!
Ok, so I have purchased a nice set of e60 M5 wheels for my 535xi Sport project,...you know the one! It's my project car that I want to build up as the '10 version of the F90 M5,..wannabe! Thus far, I have MHD Stage 1, and I plan to get to Stage 2,..but with larger Catalytic converter,....as I must be smog legal in VA. I digress,...so, I have my e60 M5 wheels,...Style #166, and they have regular valve stems, which also means they don't have TPM sensors. So, the first step in mounting the tires will be to source a set of TPM sensors. I'm thinking I need to get a set of TPM sensors for a 2010 535,...that will definitely mount on BMW Style #166 wheels!
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. |
Why have any sensors at all? Not worth the cost and hassle.

Hmm, that's a thought! But then again,...I'd be peeping at a glaring TPMS warning light! Plus,...at time of State inspection,...the vehicle most likely wouldn't pass because of the TPMS light being on. But thank you all the same....

TPM sensors are the least of your worries. I didn't think OEM 166 wheels would fit an xi because of the offsets. BMW wheel style 166 | BmwStyleWheels.com

Well, I had the idea of making a wanna-be-look-like E60 M5,...sort of anyway. So, I searched the net and found this video:
e60 (2010) 535xi Sport Stock C-Difference = .138 Revs per mile difference = 3 e60 (2010) M5 Stock C-Difference = .377 Revs per mile difference = 3 F10 (2013) M5 Stock C-Difference = .334 Revs per mile difference = 0 F10 (2012) 535 Sport Stock C-Difference = .434 Revs per mile difference = 3 F10 (2012) 535xi Sport Stock C-Difference = .0 Revs per mile difference = 0 (Same size tires all-around) The Setup I'm considering: F/ 245/35/19 R/285/30/19 e60 (2010) 535xi Sport #166 / 19" Wheels C-Difference = .138 Revs per mile difference = 3 The tires sample I used on Tirerack registered the same "Circumference",...however, my spreadsheet still shows a 3 miles in revs per mile (805 vs 808),...which is the same for the Stock setup. Just for kicks,...this data shows a 10 revs difference fo the e60 550 running 245/35/19 // 275/30/19 No diff in Circumference,...but 805 vs 815 revs per mile. Note, the tire used for the comparison was the Continental Extreme Contact That said, what tire combo size are you running? Are those 19s,...or 18" reps? JMD |
