I will be ordering a set of staggered 20x8.5 and 20x10 for my 08 535i... since i'm in NoVA, i want to put all season tires (245/35/20 and 275/30/20).... I'm stuck between General G-MAX and Continental Exrteme Contact... they are both at reasonable price.... approx $650 for the GMAX and $850 for Continental (+ better warranty).... does any of you have have either one of those? I would rather save the $200 bucks and get the GMAX, as the reviews for that wheel are actually very good...but I just wanna hear opinions from other BMW owners.
I will appreciate any help...
thanks guys

I had DWSs on my 2011 F10 for almost a year. They are comfortable, which is also their biggest downfall. The sidewalls are a bit soft in my opinion for a 5 series. A friend has them on his 3 series and likes them just fine. I had looked a the Generals that you are considering, but they were back ordered in the size I needed when I was ordering tires last year.

I have had two sets the General UHP Exclaims that preceded the G-Max; got good tread life, quiet ride, and good handling in all kinds of weather. The Conti's are reported to wear quickly. Both are good buys ... I too considered the DWS but stuck with the set I knew from prior use.
If you're going to Tirerack check out the rebate link in my signature ... will offset a chunk of the S&H.

My Ride: 2008 BMW 528XI
I just purchased (2 weeks ago) the Conti Extreme Contact DWS for my '08 528XI. I got what I felt was a GREAT deal on these tires through Belle Tire in Michigan. Out the door installed they are $572 with free lifetime rotations and balancing. When I go to their website today and quote it is $665 so I am very pleased with the price I paid.
The tread pattern looks very aggressive and I am happy with how quiet they are. Only have about 600+ miles on them but am pleased with performance thus far and drove in heavy rains this morning for hte first time and they handeled great. Fet like I was stuck to the ground.
Bottom line- Go with the Conti Extreme Contact DWS. From reviews I read prior to ordering they receive great ratings. There is also a Continental PURE contact DWS which comes out next week (September 4th).

My General GMAX AS-03's have been on my car for about a year now. Great tire! The tires are quiet, handle great in wet/dry conditions. The tires look/feel like brand new. I would recommend. I have heard the DWS is a great tire, but wears quickly and the sidewall is very soft. I took a chance and really like the Generals.

Not sure if you have purchased tires yet, but I have had both sets of tires and can share you my experience. My tires are 245.35.19 and 275.30.19. I purchased the Generals first based upon what I had read on various forums, I loved them, great sporty feel. One tire was damaged beyond repair, and they had 30,000 miles on them, so I decided to replace with an All Season tire. After reading reviews, I decided to go with the Continental Extreme DWS. Yes they are quieter & softer than the General, but in my opinion, they are way too soft for a 550i. Also, I do not feel they are any better in wet or snowy conditions. They slipped again yesterday, after just a light rain. I can't wait until they wear out.
