Hey everyone,
We just purchased a 2010 535i M-sport (non X-drive) with the 135 Style 18" wheels. Two of the wheels have a bent inner lip. .One front and one rear. I'm considering having both of them repaired, but also came across someone selling a straight complete SET locally for pretty reasonable that might be easier, maybe even cheaper. Still trying to get a good quote for repair around here.
My question is about that stagger. I was under the impression that the rear wheels were actually wider (and the tires that are on it currently would back that up) however I don't see any information about "Style 135" wheels that suggests they are actually wider, but it does seem there is a 20 mm and 43 mm back spacing available, but one is for a RWD car and one is intended for an X-drive car, or at least it's written that way.
Can someone clear this up for me? I just need to know what the correct wheels are for this car. Part number and width or offset(s).
Eventually I would like to switch to E60 series M5 wheels, but for now, just want to get these wheels straightened out (no pun intended).
Thanks for any help!

Here is a link to the Style 135 wheel specs: BMW wheel style 135 | BmwStyleWheels.com It looks like for non X-drive cars, the only offset you have available is ET 20. The RealOEM web site should have the part number for you.

The rear tires on the car are currently Nitto 275/35ZR18... Would seem big for an 8" wide wheel, but they appear to fit correctly. Recommended wheel width for the tire is 9"-11", but nothing says they couldn't have just been mounted on the 18'x8".
I gotta' pull some wheels and see what I have here.

Remember, that is for Style 135 only. If you decide to go with M5 wheels (Style 166?), you can get a staggered setup.

The PO of this car said it had a staggered set of wheels on it already, so that's where my confusion is. Seems maybe he could have been mistaken. Guess I'll find out when the wheels come off.
Thanks for your reply!

So reading out on the interweb, it seems the M-sport was offered with an 8" wide front and a 9" wide rear, however I don't see that listed in a 135 style wheel. Can someone confirm this? If so, I don't believe this particular car came with that stagger, based on what's simply listed in the door jamb for tire sizes. This car has had upgrades done to it and I can't imagine the PO wouldn't know what he had.

It's always possible that those are aftermarket wheels, in which case all bets are off as far as the original specs. Instead of speculating, why don't you just remove one of the rear wheels and find out for yourself?

I'll report back on what I have.
Thanks again guys! Wasn't trying to waste anyone's time. Now I'm just curious.

Okay, as promised I'm reporting back.
All 4 wheels are indeed just the factory 8x18 wheel size. Not a wider wheel out back, as to be expected. So the previous owner was mistaken. Not sure why he thought there was a larger wheel out back. However there is a wider tire out back, as mentioned earlier. 275/35ZR18. They look like they fit just fine, so I'm not alarmed for the time being. If I start noticing a strange ride I'll look at them a little closer.
What started all these questions was the PO mentioning the rims had some pot hole damage on the inner lip of the right side wheels that he assumed was causing a slight vibration between 60 and 70 ish. However, I just don't really see any damage that the eye can see. I'm going to take the car to someone that can take a closer look with a dial indicator or something. I'm not expecting much, though.
If the wheels are as straight as they look, then there may be a different underlying issue causing the vibration. Maybe as simple as a poorly balanced wheel or a crappy tire. It's very difficult to even feel and it's only in the steering wheel that I feel it.
Anyway, just wanted to update my findings since I was finally able to get some one on one time with the car this weekend.
Thanks for previous responses!
