Hello experts. I'm interested in a set of 20" wheels for my 550 m-sport. The specs on the wheels are: front 20X8.5 +20et, rear 20X10.5 +27et
Now, what size rears will fit without rubbing? I've searched and got confused with some members here got rubbing with 285 vs. 275s. Since the rear wheels are 10.5" wide I'd like to go with 285/30/20 if possible. Btw, I'm stock sport suspension. Thanks in advance!

You should be ok with 285s depending on how you use your vehicle. I only had a slight rub when going over large bumps and I rarely have passengers in back. If your roads suck (and i'm sure they do in Jersey) or if you chauffeur people around quite a bit, go with the 275. However, I'm not a fan of the stretched look.

Thanks for the reply. I agree with you on the stretched look. Not my thing too. I'll probably just go with 295/25/20. That's what the tire venders recommend. I can swap back to 172s in the fall.
Cut or roll the rear fender wells and you will fit fine. With my setup, I have about 5mm of clearance between tire and fender well lip once cut and am lowered a bit.
You will be .7mm less than I from tire to fender (identical to the eye), but 13.4mm closer to the rear suspension.
I have a 20x10 on 285/30R20's in rear.
