Hi everyone, I have a 2007 530i and running right now 245/40/18 in all 4 tires, I would like to stay with 245/40/18 in front but go with 275/35/18 in rear, would that work? Would it'll be a problem with rubbing? Would the wheel fit on that tire?
Thanks in advance...
Those look to be Style 123's. You're talking about a 10" tire on an 8" rim. You can do it, but it will bulge the sidewall, which might cause some instability in corners and is probably not good for the tire.

Thanks for your response, do you know how wider can I go in the rear without affecting anything? Thanks again...
While tire and wheel combinations that fall outside the tire’s rim width range have been widely used for dedicated track, competition, or off-road driving, they should not be used on the street, even to drive to and from an event. Tires driven on the road have to endure stresses, strains and repetitive fatigue due to flexing during the tens of millions of revolutions over the course of their usable lifetime. When road-going tires are pinched or stretched on wheels that are beyond their design range they can develop cracking, unusual or rapid wear patterns, or other failure conditions.
As for the max you can go, I'd contact Tire Rack and see what they say. I trust their advice.
That 275/35/18 size that I suggested for the rear in my first post was actually from tire rack. So now I'm confused, any helpppp??? Suggestions???
Thanks...

That rear size is for a staggered set. My 08 535 had 124s which are 8 in front and 9 for rears.
My car came with the circled sizes stock. I went to a 8.5 front and 9.5 rear and now have the 245/35/19 and 275/30/19 tires. I went with a 285 instead of 275.
I have a XI and the rolling diameter is closer with a 285.
I wouldn't put a 275 on an 8 inch wheel. Handling aside, I don't think it would look very good.
Spacers would bring your current set-up more flush.

You missed the important 3 words... "using proper wheels". As spazzz suggested, you probably would need to go to a 9" wide wheel. My understanding was that you just wanted to use the larger tire on the wheels you currently have.

Yes, that's what I would like to do, go wider in the rear. Where can I look on my wheels to see what size in inches they are now?
Thanks...
Style 123's only come 8", so that's what you have. To do what you want to do, you'll have to purchase new wheels. Here's a site that shows the various OEM wheels for the 5 Series. All BMW wheel styles 5 | BmwStyleWheels.com
