Hey guys was hoping someone out their could chime in with a little help on my predicament.


so I just picked up some 19" alzor wheels they are 8.0 in the front and 8.5 in the back and had come off an 550i f10


I have a 2004 530i figured they would fit beautifully. I picked the wheels up for $180 USD for all for and got the tires for another $250 CAD which all in all sounds like a great price.


the tires are:
Rears
2 - Tires are Continental Sport Contact 2...............255/40/R19 80% Tread
Fronts
2 - Tires are Pirelli Sottozero 240..........................255/40/ZR19 75% Tread


after mounting them I found that the lower portion of my front shock/strut sits right on top of my tire.. I really thought they would clear because the guy I got the tires from had the exact same car.


so essentially at this point I'm not looking to buy new tires and im assuming spacers would be the next best alternative. Anyone know what I can do or get to make these fit?


(I am currently on oem suspension)

Could it be that the previous owner had spacers? (Many E60 owners do) For the rim, it comes down to offset.
What are the offset of the rims front and back?

Hi Shawn,

Looking at the info you've provided, it appears that you have purchased the wrong tire sizes for 19" wheels.

19" tires on a E60 should be sized at (or around) 245/35/19 for the fronts and 275/30/19 for the rears.

If you are putting 255/40/19 on the front and rear, the sidewall differences are big.
- the sidewall of a 255/40 tire is 4 inches
- the sidewall of a 245/35 tire is 3.38 inches (front)
- the sidewall of a 275/30 tire us 3.25 inches (rear)

Since the 255/40 tire is essentially a whole 3/4 inch taller, this is why you are experiencing the rubbing on the shock.

Spacers might help to push the wheels further out, thus clearing the inner side of the tire from the shock, but you will likely run into rubbing issues on the outside of the tire on the fender.

Additionally, the taller 255/40 tires will throw off your speedometer by about +6%, meaning your wheels would be spinning faster than your speedometer registers, which could be harder on your drive train and wheel bearings.

thanks for the reply! well the fronts at 19x8 and rears are 19x8.5 that's all I really know at this point. I think that they are et40 or et35 if that helps

oh nooo! that sounds horrible! thank you for all this information! I just didn't think it would make a difference seeing as the person I purchased it from had the same model and year e60 as me

also I mean at this point im not in any situation to get new tires even purchasing these were a stretch. I am truly just looking to keep them until the 20th then sell them after the meet im going too.


if worse comes to worse, based on those numbers what size spacers may solve this issue ?

Those offsets are for an E60 AWD car. The offsets for your car are closer to ET 15 - 25. If I were you, I'd forget about spacers and trying to make ill-fitting wheels fit, sell the rims and tires get yourself something that fits properly. It sucks that you got such a good deal, but just consider it a hard lesson learned. We've all been there.

dang that really does suck. i just figured the wider the offset the more the wheels would stick out more. appreciate the feedback tho thank you
