255/35/20 & 285/30/20 on e60? (non M5) Anyone? M-Sport
 

I bought some wheels from a M5 owner (he used spacers to flush the front wheels so I will be ok) but I'm unsure how the tire combo is going to work on my 550i M sport. It's slightly taller than stock by .30". Anyone have any pictures of this combo on a e60 with sport suspension? Debating on lowering as well since I need new struts soon.

That's a pretty tall and wide tire up front. Usually 20" wheel combo would be 245/30-20&275/30-20 (which is what I'm running) or 285/25 or 295/25. Here's a pic of when I ran a 255/30 tire up front.

Yeah they are from a M5. However, there are no 245/30 tires that support the weight of the 550 according to load index. I tried running something lower on my 370z with that size and they were riddled with broken sidewalls (no big potholes, just highway bridgejoints, etc) after a 3000 mile roadtrip vacation so i will not test those waters again. The equivalent sizing compared to stock 245/40/19 and 275/35/19 would be 245/35/20 and 275/30/20. Just hoping the slightly taller tire wont be too noticeable. They will be here tomorrow so I guess I'll find out...

Yeah there is no tires 245/30-30 with the exact same load index as stock. However Ive been running Hankook V12's for the past 2 years with no issues. The load index is slightly lower however it is still well above the GAWR for the front axle. Otherwise you will need to go with the 255's if you want a matching index. Also you might want to check the offsets of your wheels to ensure its not too flush or your front wheels will rub even if you roll and pull the fenders with the 255's.

The wheel specs are 20x8.5 +14 and 20x9.5 +20. I might just scrap the whole idea and just throw some spacers on my stock 172 wheels and lower the car a little. But, it was a good deal so worth trying them on.

I've found a couple threads with people running this tire combo. It looks "ok". A smaller tire would definitely look better to me

What are your wheel specs? I'm definitely going to go with a 245 or 255/30 now after doing more research.

Finally got around to opening the packages... Surprise! He said he included the 255/35/20 on the fronts and no rear tires. Somehow he was wrong and included the rear 285/30 and no fronts! Score! I was counting in needing to replace the fronts he sent me. Day. Made!

I have a similar issue.

I have a 2005 545i sport. Just bought some 20" Forgestar F14 from a friend who had it on his E60 M5. Came with like new Hankook V12 255/35/20 & 285/30/20.

When I first put them on they rubbed like crazy just driving slowly around the block. The fronts look pretty close to the shock as well. Me and my friend tried to roll my fenders ourselves (he had a fender roller). It helped but the fronts still rub when I drive normally/semi slowly. I am thinking of going to a shop to have the fenders professionally rolled just in case we didn't do a good job.

Should I take it to get the fenders professionally re-rolled or should I just switch the fronts to 245/35/20? It just seems like a waste to switch out the tires right away since they are like new. I am not sure of the offsets, I took a picture of the back of one of the wheels but not sure how to read it. I read a post of where my friend purchased his wheels from an m5 forum and the post said the wheels were spec'd for M5.
