Just a thought, on M5Board, they used to have it where whenever you reply to a thread the first time, the full signature appears but for subsequent replies to the same thread by the same poster, your signature doesn't show. Seems like a middle ground between the two view points. What do you guys think and can we do it with the this forum's software?
Yes that would be an improvement.

This allready has been mentioned in a previous discussion and Lomag wanted to look for that feature and ask the IPB folks about it.

If Lomag learns that the repeating sigs can be eliminated, that's a great start. Either way, we may have to come up with a maximum size that all sigs need to conform to. The size would include a maximum height and maximum width and, in my opinion, would need to be more of a "ribbon" size, not a huge square or rectangle.

This would force people to be more conservative with the use of new lines of text, etc. (instead of how radzM550i currently does it.)

Again, this may be the best compromise since it would allow people to have pics if they wanted, they'd just have to fit the overall size specifications...

My 2 cents: I do agree with pjinca that this still feels like minority opinion compared to the over 30K+ members here. I also agree that the smoking analogy is not as relevant as the changing channel example. With smoking, I would say the majority of people don't smoke so yes, the minority has to live by the rules.

On the other hand, with the smoking example, even if there weren't laws restricting smoking in certain places, smokers should still have some courtesy to the preferences of others. I say this as a smoker myself. Even in public areas, I usually ask anyone around me if they would mind if I smoke. In those cases, just because I can, doesn't mean that I would.

Having said all that, I decided to remove my sig pic and revised my description a bit to shrink it down further. Mainly because my old sig pic wasn't that great...waiting for a better one.

+1 Is there a program that could limit the signature size automatically?
I think there are some board settings that can be adjusted, etc. but they may only look at size in bytes, not in pixels. In other words, if I'm correct then it may not solve the problem of height and width.

I can't speak for Lomag but obviously, this approach may be something to consider.

I made it up the whole time. I rock an '81 Camaro, just like in Fast Times in Ridgemont High. "Is he gonna s&@t or is he gonna kill us? First he's gonna s$@t, then he's gonna kill us!" LOLOLOL! One of the best lines ever! Hahahahahahahaha!
