Hey Guys,

I've made quotes of quotes no longer allowed. This means if you quote a post where the poster quoted someone else and then wrote their reply, that initial quote will be ignored and only the posters reply will be quoted in your reply.

This basically stops posts were we have quotes inside quotes inside quotes a dozen times so threads can be read more easily. I hadn't seen this option before but I have now and think it's great.

I'm still working on trying to add the Location field on the initial registration page and make that required for new users so they atleast put a country or state or something.

I think this change is a great one. Among other things, it fixes "the system" so that no one can quote another out of context, either accidentally or on purpose, because the original quoter did so. Poster are responsible for out of context quotes even if someone else made the out of context quote earlier. Given this change, the matter is taken out of the second poster's hands. The change also prevents a poster from ignoring a reply to a post and, thus, ignoring the full context of a discussion--while, at the same time, emphasizing an earlier exchange. This practice also is a type of out-of-context quoting. And, of course, it will cut down on the lengths of threads, etc.

Good deal Lomag! I'm happy to see that there was a setting for that -- I think it will make the forums way more readable...

Both changes are great. Knowing members locations is useful when responding to questions, and the elimination of nested quotes is very welcome (I've seen it implemented on other forums)--and think of all the bandwidth and storage expense that'll be saved!

I just tried it and there is a little problem with it.

When you hit reply on a message where someone quotes someone else, you onle get one quote, but actually all quotes are in the quote box, it just doesn't mention the names/nicks of the original posters.

Example:

DAS posts something, let's say: >This is a test<.
Lomag quotes DAS in his reply: Nope it isn't.
So, the quote of DAS is shown and under it Lomags new reply.

DAS posted Today at 12.00 pm in post 111111:
This is a test

Nope it isn't.

If now Iceman jumps in (Yes it is) and quotes Lomag, who qutoed DAS, it will appear a quote with both quotes, but with only Lomags name.

Lomag posted Today at 12.30 pm in post 111112:
This is a test
Nope it isn't.

Yes it is.

So, the text and the attachements are not getting less, it only adds confusion.

Lomag: Is there a way to have ONLY the last quote? Not all quotes in one quote box?

Yes it is.

What you illustrate is what I thought was supposed to happen. That's the best way to do it, IMO, for the reasons I mentioned above.
