Where is the E60 built? At what factory?

And that's for both, Sedan and Touring.
Thanks Iceman! I'm down to only the new car check list question. I remember seeing a site with a good list. I'll try to find that again. I remember using that sites check list myself.

Keep in mind that some E60's are shipped in "kit" form to China where they are assembled over there so I guess technically speaking, some E60's go through "final assembly" in China. (I think it has something to do with beating a bunch of Chinese taxes. Someone else can add some detail to this I'm sure.)
I entered status 150 (production start) on 4/13/04 and ended up Production Complete 4/21/04. This is also generally what I saw on several other related posts. There's the paint shop, the body shop, final assembly, etc. However, I don't recall seeing any 'official' source for this. I don't see how they could build it, start to finish, in one day. Paint needs to settle and dry a bit, I wuold have thought.
Re: the checklist... There was a 7-series checklist that I had seen several times on the web, but when I went back to look a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't find it anywhere. I think a collection from the various 'checklist' posts should suffice.

Perhaps the assembly takes a day but then the paintshop, drying, and that other stuff is what takes up the rest of the time. I'll leave it as-is if that's what your status codes said. Those don't lie, atleast we'd think not.
Thanks Sam.. you've been very helpful and thanks to all for helping to generate questions earlier too!

Here's a link to an excellent delivery check list.
Maybe some good ideas can be obtained here for the board's FAQ.
Here's a link to "buying a new car" info. from the same site. It very comphrehensive and may deserve a place in the FAQ's.

Suggestion:
How long will it take for the factory to make my new E60?
Reports run all the way from 18 hours to about 7 business days to build a new 5-series. Your dealer is now able to track your new car through the various stages of the build process. The following status codes follow your car as it winds its way through:
150
roduction started
151:Body shop started
152
aint shop started
153:Assembly started
155
roduction completed
Again, your dealer will be able to tell you exactly where your car is (or more likely, where your car recently WAS) in the production cycle.
Somehow, the above and Rudy's complete list of status codes will need to be integrated in with the faq entry or two separate questions created, one for deliver and the other for the actual build, if we think it's worth it.
I called my CA this morning and he said he thought it usually took about 5 business days from 150 to 155, but it's variable. He suggested calling BMWNA to ask the same question but I haven't.
