I'm not saying don't make a chat room but I am saying that for me personally, I'm not one to visit chat rooms at all.

I know they're popular with many but for me, I just don't get them. I prefer the time flexibility that forum posting gives me. Chatting takes too much "real time" out of my life -- posting is something I can do with "slivers of time" which, these days, is about all the time I have.

Actually, time is one of the main reasons I was so happy that so many of us abandoned (or mostly abandoned) RF. Aside from the trolls and flames, the software was so inefficient that I felt like I was wasting my time trying to figure out what I read, what was posted after me, etc.

This software is so efficient that I can cruise through very quickly and read only what I need to.

Again, if a chat room is created, it might add value to the forum and for that, I'm all for it. I just don't see myself using the feature very much, if at all.

I'm with you Rudy.
I would say, let's start using the Lounge first.
Currently we are posting everything on our board, even OT things. If we start using the lounge and still want to have a chatroom, then we can talk about it...

My 2 cents...

I agree really. I wouldn't want to miss some useful nuggett of information that came up in the chat room tbh!

I agree that we should use the lounge for all off topic posts. You can use AOL instant messaging (or other similar software) for chatting in private. They're easy to set up and free.

I would like a chat room. My office's IT department prevents installing AOL or other chat programs. It would be nice to chat live some times.

Like today, when I have nothing to do at work, and I could bother people on this forum to see what is happening.

You must really be bored today since you're resurrecting threads from July 2004!

To me, chatting is too inefficient. I'd rather communicate using posts like these. If I want real-time conversations, I'll use the telephone...
