That's what I was trying to explain -- the total posts counter doesn't line up with the post ID numbers. Unfortunately, I think the post ID number is the only way for us to determine the actual millionth post...

The counter on the index page counts the posts that are online.
The real counter counts ALL posts EVER made, including deleted dupes and spam!
