Coolant Leak 2008 BMW 535xi
Is this crack below the screw capable of causing a leak? I've checked all of the hoses and they all look good. The Thermostat looks good as well. My 2008 BMW 535xi has 219K miles on it and the water pump and thermostat were changed at around 100k miles. I put the car on jack stands and let it run for an hour and it didn't leak, but as soon as I revved it up it started dripping. The coolant ran down the frame out a hole midway of the passenger tire area, but definitely came from the Water Pump area. I appreciate your time.
This crack below the screw is the only thing that I can see that would cause the leak I was having.

It was crazy taking the Water Pump and the Thermostat out of this car. Getting it back in wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. After a couple hours and some very sore muscles I was able to get them in and all attached. Ran her around for a couple hours with no leaks or overheating. So glad to have her back up and running. My last thing to put on her was the Spring clip that popped off and disappeared on me. I went to the dealer and they wanted to sell the whole coolant pipe for $158. I went to Pull-a-Part and scavenger hunted through four 5 series and one 3 series Bimmers and was able to find a clip. Still don't know where the original one went. I tell you, if I had to do it all again, I would still take it off instead of paying an arm and a leg for someone else to do it.
$158 at the Dealership. Can't replace just the clip. Have to buy the whole hose. Thank God for Pull-a-Part
Letting her run for a bit to check for leaks. This is just before a homeless lady tried to get into the car. She said she thought it was empty. What? smh

Good for you. I paid $1,100 to have mine done. I have lost screws, never to be found, but I just buy a new one. I had to replace a clip like that, it's used other places, I easily bought it on eBay. The hard part was finding the part number on RealOEM.
I remember now; I had that same clip on my e36 temperature sensor cable. I think I got the clip off another cable or something.

Did the HPFP on my 08 i know what you mean about sore muscles and tough to get at items. But it's very gratifying when you get it done yourself. And a helluva lot cheaper.
