Default Code P2091 ...

On my E60 5 series, oil was changed 600 miles along with the oil filter. During the oil filter change, the internal frame with the small seal came out and was thrown away. I drove it that way for a few days and the CEL came on. I subsequently changed both the Actuator solenoids, and bought a new oil filter internal frame. That solved the problem.

Fast forward 600 miles, the CEL with code P2091 (Exhaust cam, bank 1 actuator voltage high). I am not sure I understand this code and what are possible solutions. Any pointers? Cannot be the actuator solenoids, they are 600 miles old.

To close out this thread. I changed the exhaust cam position sensor, did not help. Decided to swap the two new solenoids around and the error follows one of the solenoid. I changed the cheap ass solenoid to a brand new BMW one, problem solved. Lesson: Never buy cheap solenoid actuator.

I’ve heard those sentiments before about the cheaper actuators. Thanks for updating us.

Good news. For parts that critical, I'll only ever by OE/OEM bits. Put a CPS on my N54 - VDO brand.
