Question D.R.L - Part/Replacement

So this morning on my drive to work I saw an e60 with white D.R.L's and I've always hated the fact that mine have a yellowish appearance to them. It just makes the car look outdated.

I was wondering if anyone could direct me to find some D.R.L's that are white in color and also maybe an installation guide somewhere? I have the Bi-Xenon model headlight and I'm in Canada.

Much appreciated!

The DRL on cars in Canada with Bi-Xenon lights in those years are the inner headlights that run at 1/2 the voltage (6v), therefore will give only an orange tint light no matter what heat range H7 you use. Perhapsin the latter years different bulbs were used or you are referring to the angel eyes as DRLs, which can be converted to LED bulbs with the white you looking for. That being said, I went ahead and got yellow H7 bulbs for the inner headlight H7s, so that they are obviously yellow and different from others. The H7 DRLs are also the "flash to pass lights" and operate at 12v and are less orange then..

Before

After. Notice the yellowness from the inner light ?

Hey thanks for the reply!

This past summer I changed my angel eyes to 50watt cree lights. But what I'm looking to change are the inner lights (non xenon) which are on during the day and have a yellowish look. Added some pics to be more specific.

Exactly as I said! Because the inners operate at a lower voltage, no matter what colour heat range you replace the H7 bulbs that fit there, they will appear yellow. That is why I went full yellow H7, which gives them a much more purposeful look. You could try some cheap LED conversion lights since those lights need not be focused. The problem with using LED for the inners is that they might not work at the lower voltage (6v).

I just find that hard to believe but Thank you for telling me about the h7 bulbs, that at least gives me a referacer. I've found these and it appears that on the 2nd picture in the add, it makes it seem as if they will get me the white look I'm searching for.

HID is 'flash to pass' on LCI models. The inner lamp is a cornering lamp on LCI with adaptive HID. I put some super blue halogen lamps in my DRLs and they're appreciably more, but not LED white. I don't rate my car by its appearence and certainly can't see the DRLs unless I'm pulling up to a glass storefront.

One thing I always chuckle about is how people bitch about the advanced styling on BMWs since Chris Bangle. Guess what? The automotive world seems to accept that stying and there are lots of cars on the market today using the 'flame surface' styling he created back then. Makes my 2008 car appear 7 years newer. Thanks Chris (and Adrian).

I have already tried those and they are barely whiter due to the reduced voltage used for the DRL setting. They are quite white when in the flash to pass mode. Your best bet, if you insist, is to try an LED H7 equivalent, but I don't think that they will work on the reduced voltage and will cause error messages.
