Default Radio IDrive dead

started about 4 months ago. Radio would cut out and usually after a minute or so would turn back on again
idrive screen would die and also start working again after a minute or so. Now neither work. IDrive screen goes white with no text or graphics for about 5 seconds then dies. Radio completly dead 2004 E60 model

If it was intermittent and is now dead, it sounds like a loose connection that totally disconnected. If you pull your unit out, you will most likely be able to find the loose wire and reconnect it.

Hi, I'm the proud 'newish, owner of an 2006 e60. It's pretty much a base model and great car but spoilt by this same dead idrive issue. It can work perfectly for months, then it will go through a series of being totally dead and then recovering without any warning. I did improve the situation by unplugging the Bluetooth module in the boot. Are there any other areas to look at?

As suggested above, did you pull the unit and check for loose or broken connections? I'd start there.

Hi, yes I've checked all the connections on the back of the unit.

Do you have navigation? Try removing the disk and drive that way for a while.

This sounds like the CCC on its way out. Is everything OK when cold at startup?

Perhaps this can help. The CCC is the Car Communication Centre, which controls the idrive function among other things.

Thank you that is a really useful link.

I did remove the CCC (I know what/and where it is now!) to again check the plugs etc as currently it is working and I thought I may disturb a loose connection, no joy but I did notice the fan at the back of the unit is not working, could this contribute to the problem?
