Transmission Fault Code 4f8b
I am looking for help with my transmission. I have 07 530xi with 6HP19X auto transmission. Last week while upshifting from fifth to sixth gear the car produced the transmission code 4f8b and went into limp mode. I was able to make it back home and reset the adaptation for transmission. All seems to be fine now, it shifts smoother than before (when it jurked before coming to full stop) The car has 87k miles and still has the original “lifetime” transmission fluid. Where should I start or should I let it be and wait for the code to reappear? Any hint is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Do you currently have any hard shifts up or down? Any jerkiness in the transmission? It may be time to do fluid flush and the sleeves/seals above the mechatronics.

I would second the fluid flush. The lifetime fluids aren’t really lifetime. If you drop the pan you can check the magnets for metal, and while you’re there, put in a new pan/filter. Your code is mentioned in this thread: https://5series.net/forums/diy-do-yo...137584/page17/ next step would be solenoids and seals. Good luck, let us know what you decide to do.
