530d erratic revs around 1500k - help!
Ok -
Had the car a few weeks and its got an issue i need to resolve!
Around 1500 revs, regardless of gear - the revs fluctuate pretty dramatically, so obviously the cars speed drops and rises, or kangaroos as i like to say...
Cars got receipts for a dpf and swirl flaps removel.
Sinve ive had the car ive replaced the egr stat as the cars running cool, ill replace the main one soon - car also needs a service ill be doing that shortly.
Read codes and i get:
4B10 Smooth Running Regulation
4B11 Smooth Running Regulation
Ive been told a number of possibilities - fuel filter/glowplugs/vac leak/maf/map/torque convertor(please no)...
I took the car to a good gearbox specialist near here and he was adamant it wasnt gearbox related - but it kinda ticks the box for a bad torque convertor i believe.
Just looking for another opinion from you guys before i remortgage...
Ta.

e60 530d stuttering revs
Hi all, looking for a little help.
Not had this car long - has a very annoying issue at around 1500rpm.
The throttle bounces up and down, very jittery, this happens in any gear and causes dead spots and surging whilst driving.
Took the car to a very reputable gearbox specialist near here, he drove it and was sure it wasnt gearbox related...
Any ideas?
I havent serviced the car yet, but have replaced the egr stat as the car is running cool, ill be changing the main one soon.
I got the codes read from an indy and came back with:
4B10 and 4B11- smooth running control
Anyone any idea , ive had possibilities of fuel filter/glowplugs/map/maf/torque convertor!
Cars had dpf and swirlflaps removed.
Any guidance would be greatly apprechiated!

I noticed that at around 1500, my RPM drops and transmission jerks as if has no power and the revs bounce low then high (kind of like surging you describe). But, I do have a gas engine so might be a little different. Manually changing the gear seems to have no effect, as it still occurs but I did notice this only happens because the Auto-Circulation button is on, and the speed is between 25-35mph. Once the auto is turned off, everything is back to normal even when driving in that speed range. I have never seen that climate control and transmission could have such an impact but it could be something to just check just to get it off your list.
I also found this: http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/...-fault-t69308/
They say that it could be the glow plugs or dirty injectors could cause this (TheEnd, second post under initial post). Although it isn't a E60, since its a diesel might be similar to your diesel in a way?

I have an 04 525i with only 116k miles on it doing the same thing, I thought it may have been transmission but then was told its either injectors or coils cuz plugs were just changed less that month ago. I added a bottle of chevron injector cleaner and the problem went away for a bit before coming back a little better than it was before treatment, now instead of bouncing the rpms will kind of surge until reaching shift point then tranny shifts thru rest of gears both up & down just fine. does anyone know how I can check my injectors before spending money on replacing them before knowing for sure.
