Default Alternator bracket removal

Hello,
I need some help with the removal of the alternator bracket to get a new gasket in there.
I removed my alternator last night and after looking around the bracket it seems more stuff needs to be removed to get the bracket out. Please enlighten me if you can or have done this job before.

That will depend on the motor type
What year is your E60 or motor type?

There are many YouTube videos on how to do it
I'm pretty sure your engine type is the same as this
If not just search a little more
It's very easy to do
And the problem will be fixed

You have to do a few things, IIRC:

- undo the nut on top of the motor mount so you can raise and lower the motor
- drop the power steering pump. There is 5mm socket head cap bolt on the back (or maybe 6mm) that will make this a bitch to do
- remove the oil cooler and lines. The oil thermostat sits on top of your alternator bracket

Best of luck, you will really hate your car after this job, and every 60-70k when it hardens and starts hemorrhaging oil again.

Update,
There really is not a DIY for the 550i...I decided to take to a local indy bmw shop and they quoted me 400$ since I had some of the work out of the way. 2 days in the shop. Without a lift I could not see myself doing this job. Hopefully oil free leak for another 72k miles.

That's not bad at all I would pay someone $400 to not deal with this headache.I have 07 550 and I'm about to venture to complete this fix. My Indy quoted me $1200.This same Indy also quoted me $950 for a service b on my CLS while the Dealer quoted me $450. Unfortunately, no other Indy in town.

Damn, $400? That's a steal!

My local shop charges $1000, which is about normal around here (SF Bay Area). The tech says he can do it under 5 hours nowadays. Somewhat easier with a lift.
