Default 06 530xiT No crank no start after locksmith

So, was working on converting the tailgate from Auto to manual and ended up locking my only key in the cargo area...

Had a locksmith come out, they unlocked the car by pulling on the door handle from the inside. Alarm went off and turned off before I could get the key. Unlocked it, thought nothing of it, and went back to work.

Fast forward to this morning, car tried to crank, but didn't start. Every time after that, it's been a no crank no start. Everything else still works. Took the battery to AutoZone, they said it was good and showing a 75% charge. I took a voltmeter to it and it was showing 12.65v.

Reinstalled the battery and now I'm getting the 4x4 and DSC malfunction on top of it refusing to start...

I have a starter on the way, but besides that, does anyone have an idea as to what else it could be? Does the immobilizer somehow need to be reset?

Thanks for any help.

With CAS showing fine, I'm going to assume it is indeed the starter. I've checked any fuse that deals with engine/ignition/fuel and they all appear fine. I'll most likely pick up a battery charger as well on my way home from work just to keep the battery charged while I wait.

If anyone has any other guesses as to what the issue could possibly be, I'm all ears.

Where you having issues with the starter starting. I would get a hammer to hit it to see if it starts.

If I remember correctly, the wagon failed to start the first time once for the month that I've owned it.

Won't hurt to bang on the starter in the meantime, I suppose.

I had my starter go out while I was out of country and my wife was driving it. I think it just went out without warning but then again my wife tells me nothing until it just doesn't work. Since then I have learned how to rebuild starters which is very easy and takes about 30 mins. I would suggest that if the starter is your issue. The kit costs around $30 and it is worth it. My first time I had no idea what I was doing. I just payed attention on how I took it apart and replaced the parts in the kit. It saved me $300 and every since then I rebuild instead of buying reman or new

Thanks for the heads up just in case I ever need to do this again.

I was lucky enough to find one off of Amazon for $50 and it should be here tomorrow.

Update.

Took the battery to Autozone. They said it was good. Took it home, tested it with my voltmeter and it was showing around 12.65.

Re-aligned the CAS on INPA and it showed good. Let the battery trickle charge overnight. Still nothing.

So hopefully it is indeed the starter as I'm changing it out today!

For the record, hitting a modern starter with a hammer is a bad idea. Back in the 'old days' field coils were used for the stationary magnetic field. New ones use ferrite magnets that will break if you belt the starter with a hammer. JSYK.

As far as I know to even reach the starter in the N52, I have to take the intake manifold off.

If I'm gonna be doing that much work, I'll just replace the damn thing.

PMGR starters can handle the taps. If you are banging on it then you don't know what your are doing in the first place. Do PMGR have ferrite magnets? I don't think they do but I can be wrong.
