2008 550i , Is it really the time to sell it?
I am so sad that I will have the option of selling my car if this is the case !!
I dropped my car at the dealer 3 days ago to figure out the smoke issue ! And it turned out (the valve guide seals ) they will reseal the whole engine!! that was the problem. My car now has 133200 on it and i am not into selling it this time ... Their price was $9239.38 !!! which is impossible to me paying that much and i will not do it , i would rather buy a new used car !
I have heard that i can do this job on outside dealer or whatever you call it for $2500 ! Even with that price, i won't be able to do it since i am just a student !
So, what do you think guys ! Sell it ? or trade it ! and how much do you thin I can sell it for ?

Unless there is a legal environmental problem with the smoking engine and and won't pass state tests and doesn't smoke too badly (only after long idle), then keep it.

For the smoke thing, there is no smoke while driving it whatsoever, the smoke is coming when i drive the car for a while and stopped for a while like traffic light or waiting for drive through it will smoke a heavy smoke if i pressed the gas you will see a cloudy white smoke .
The other thing is, the engine is shaking and there is an idle issue (low ~ below 500 ) also check engine light !

Well that doesn't seem like it's $9000 bad or even $2500 bad. Get a second opinion. It seems like you have a leak somewhere which is one seal and a vacuum or plug/spark issue. The spark/plug issue you can handle yourself. Take it into an Indy shop and get a diagnosis on what really is the issue. Dealerships will only fix the worst case scenario which at $9000 you can put a refurbished engine in less than that. Be smart if money is tight. At 130k your issue will not be as bad as the dealership makes it out to be

You can always unplug the vanos solenoids on the front of the engine to disengage the valvetronic throttle control system...it would revert to the throttle body for throttle control and the smoking will supposedly stop. There could be a code thrown and there might be a slight decrease in power but the code could possibly be cleared.

Also, you need to list the previous maintenance so we can let you know of any upcoming service issues. Finally.....do not ever take this car to the dealership for anything again. Take the time and find a good honest indy nearby.

1- Replaced the engine vacuum pump.
2- Replaced the leaking valve cover gaskets.
3- Replaced upper timing case cover gaskets(leaking engine oil).
4- Replaced leaking alternator bracket.
5- replaced alternator.
6- drive belts and tensions.
7- MAF sensor.
Things i have not replaced and suggested to be replaced :
1- O2 sensors.
2- Throttle body harness ( if fault were stored)
3- Mechatronics seal is seeping .
4- Reseal complete engine assembly.
Hope this helps !

i have no idea what "reseal complete engine assembly" is, unless they are referring to the seals you've replaced already. Just ignore those crooks. Boils down to you either replacing the valve stem seals ($2500) or trying the method above to buy some time. I don't see anything related to the cooling system being replaced, so inspect those items as well unless the previous owner has done it already.

It's as i mentioned in the beginning( the valve guide seals). " as what they suggested is the reason why i am having the white smoke coming out from the pipe " !!
I will try the method you mentioned previously and will see !
Thank you though for your help

Sounds like another N62 with worn valve stem seals. VERY common for this engine, that's what the dealer means by "reseal the engine".
My first bit of advice would be stop bringing your 10-year-old car to the dealer. Find yourself a good indpendent BMW specialist, you'll be flabbergasted by how much less you pay for the same or better service.
Here is a thread from another forum outlining what replacing valve stem seals in an N62 entails. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
