So last night my battery was acting, car wouldn't turn on, jumped it turned on all lights on dash where blinking and i drive wouldn't turn on. So decide to take it for a spin to charge the battery i drive turned on as soon as it did, Tranny malfunction and abs so engine was turn down to prevent damage! Fast forward this afternoon I left the battery charging for about 90 minutes before I went to work, came home put battery in car turned on like noting was wrong, I drove it like i stole it, for about 20 minutes nothing happened car worked just fine.

My question is will a low battery create tranny malfunctions and abs??? since it probably was low voltage.

I bought car about 2 weeks ago is probably been off for a while at the dealer, and when i brought it home i rarely drive it since i have a work van. But anyways looking on taking the alternator get checked and if good buying a new battery!

What year is the car? Yes a battery can cause a lot of Christmas light issues. I think you eliminated the possibility of it being the alternator by charging the battery. If it was the alternator then the issue would not go away.

When the alternator goes on these cars its almost 100% chance that it is the regulator. Once the regulator goes bad the only thing can can do to correct the issue is buy a new regulator or alternator which ever would prefer.

I do not know if your charger has a meter on it telling you the percentage it was charged to before you took it off but 90 mins is not long enough to charge these batteries to 50% at a 15% or less charge, maybe higher. Since you just bought the car and do not know if the battery has ever been changed out I would buy a new one. Just make sure you buy a battery with the same CCAs/Reserve mins if you do not know how to code or reset a new battery.

its a 2010. it does have a meter but it was on a timer so when i got home my brother plugged it off and put charger away, so i didn't get a chance to see where it was at.

You could charge it over night to get it to 100% and drive it for a week to see what you get. You have 7 years on the same battery so it could be time to replace it. I know I got 8 years out of my factory battery which is good. I have 5 years on the one I have in there now.

That's pretty good, how often you drove it per week/miles ?

When I changed the battery it had about 110K on the dash in 2013. It was purchased Jan 05 w 12/04 production. I did a lot of out the country traveling so I cant give you an honest answer.

Hi, new to BMW and just got a BMW 5 series this week 2010 from a dealer. I noticed the day we got it that when I turn off the ignition is says that the battery needs to be replaced at earliest convenience. I got a new battery put in today but the warning is still there. Any ideas?
Also, there's a warning triangle in the dashboard besides where is says efficient dynamics, does that mean anything, or is it related to the battery?
Any help appreciated

No I don't. I just brought it to the parts shop today and they replaced the battery. The warning is the one saying ' have the battery replaced at the earliest opportunity'
