How to proper fix a Cornering Light Failure
Good Afternoon,
I have a "Cornering Light Failure" message every time I start the car (550i 2007).
I also noticed that the head lights are not "level up and down" when I start the car. Would that affect the warning above?
This is the only warning I have.
Does anyone knows how to fix? Where can I start?
Thanks

Hello Everyone on this forum...
Thanks for (NOT) help.... I didn´t receive even a single help or response, unlike many other topics on this forum..
But unlike it happened to me, I will try to help others...
For other users which are looking for help to a similar issue, this is what I did on my car and solve the problem:
After run the "INPA Ediabas" I read the error code and it was:
70 lm okay 1 error stored
9cbc 64
Which means problems in the communication with LEFT "LEAR SMC II" module.
Then I removed it from the car and I found it was with problems, due water condensation (which I saw after is a very common issue according to the forums).
Then I bought a brand new module (see pictures below) and after change it, its working perfectly now.
* Cornering Lights Working
* Active Headlights Working
* No more errors on the dash
* No more erros on INPA
* I did not have to code it.... its working just after change it (off course I will try to code it after, to insert the correct vin code there.... but it was not necessary).
The module is located below the headlight... Easy to remove it.
Best Regards and I wish you all the best,
Bruno
Quick update just for reference (error code, if you read then on INPA Endiabas) :
9CBC: LM: Communication with SMC, left, disrupted
9CBD: LM: Communication with SMC, right, disrupted
9CBE: Communication with stepper motor box left right defective

I'm glad you were able to solve your problem, Bruno, but you're not going to gain any friends or get help in the future by berating people for not responding to your posts.

I’m having the same issue. My fault code is 9CBD I’ve attached a photo of what I think is the faulty module. From under the right hand headlight is this correct? Also where did you get your new one from? I’ve found them on ebay for around £70
phito doesn’t want to seem to upload. The part number is BMW 7 189 312
many thanks

Thank you for posting this for us, as it seems we are clearly not knowledgeable on the topic.
Seems like this is how the chips and modules tend to go on these cars. Just have to be mindful and prepared to spend a pretty penny on a computer failure that shows with out warning.
