Hi,
This is my first time on this forum and I am very interested on a 545i. I am set on it and am looking at a few different ones. I have read just about every review on the internet but I am sure there is a plethora of knowledge I am still lacking. I was wondering if there was anything I should know before I make the plunge. Also, I found a 545i that has a cracked windshield (aparently about a 12") that has no affect on the car. Would there be a problem with replacing the windshield becuase the car seems to bea good deal besides that.

I am not going to race this car or anything but does anyone happen to know what the 545i does in the 1/4 mile. I own a Ford Lightning that I run at the track so 0-60 is a foreign language to me.

Wish me luck!

to the Forums. If the only issue with the 545i is the windshield, that should be a non-issue. I love my 545i. One of the best cars I have ever owned. Nothing really to look out for. I would recommend having the car looked over to ensure everything is in perfect working order. Is this car a CPO (Certified Pre Owned)? Are you purchasing from a dealership or private sale? Have you run a carfax on it? Have you checked the service records? These cars are very reliable, but service is expensive so be sure to check everything out on it before buying. How many miles on it? Is the car still under some sort of warranty?

Good luck on the purchase! and welcome to the forum.

As far as 1/4 mile times, if I am not mistaken, I believe one of the car mags tested it and got a 13.7@104mph - Corrected*

1/4 mile i think is in the 13s i believe.
get the car, the car is not about so much being fast, it's uber luxurious.
i have a 01 740il and this is light years ahead in terms of comfort. I have comfort 20-way adjustable seats. love them.
as for speed keep the lightning for track days.

Welcome to the Forum.
Where are you located?
Getting the windshield replaced is pretty straightforward. However, you should use OEM glass to make sure the rain sensor wipers will work with the new windshield.
Road and Track magazine ran a 1/4 mile of 13.7 at 104 mph.
Good Luck with your search.

Like other stated do your home work like you would on any used car. Make sure you check the service history for sure. These cars are usually a joy to own with little to no problems or there shop whores. I would highly recommend getting an aftermarket warranty if the car isn't CPO. These cars can be quite expensive to repair and unfortunatley the with all the electronics and senors in them they almost require a dealership to service them for anything beyond the basics. I'd also highly recommend a 545 with the sports package (handling is excellent).

Mexican gentlemen??? I never knew that was an option! Is this BMW's answer to the self-parking Lexus???

Welcome! As far as everyone else has stated if it's not a CPO then definately check the records on the car to be sure that it's only the windshield. If it is indeed truly only the windshield that is an issue I would absolutely get the car. In any case, getting an e60 is definately something you won't regret. I just got mine and love it.

. Get it already
My only regret is not getting the comfort seat option.
