I'm sick of carrying around CDs, so I finally decided to get the ipod integration kit installed in my vehicle. Unfortunately, my dealer has informed me that there is a huge back order for these kits and doesn't know when one will be available. Therefore, if someone has one they want to sell, let me know. The kit will need to be compatible with my 2004 525i (I'm not sure if there's multiple kits).

I had the same problem brought gw 500 dealer claims they couldn't do the programing for it. Had to buy the oem unit, which is not that bad from my short period of playing with it (more like 30mins). Reinstall my gw 500 unit. If you're a music person such as myself (ipod has over 20,000 songs) then get the gw 500, but you can get by with the oem interface just as well for a lot cheaper.

maybe it was just my dealer. But I had the gw 500 install first and went to the dealer for programing, but since I didn't have a cdc previously installed, they claim the computer was not recognizing the gw 500. So I had purchase oem interface for the computer to recognize it and complete the coding neccessary for the gw 500 to work. Hence, why I had both systems. But I really think my dealer didn't know what they were doing, because it took them a whole day to code my car with the oem interface.

Let me this straight, you had to install the oem interface first, then swap it out with the gw 500? It seems there would be another way to do it. I found a gw500 on ebay for an OK price but I dont want to buy an OEM interface to use it.
I want to know an answer to this too! I just intalled my IPOD OEM...it only has 500 songs max! and i have over 2000 songs...IPOD OEM is not user friendly!!! so how would I install GW500?
