My Ride: 2007 E60 530i
Color: Jet Black/Black Anthracite
STEP | Sport | Premium | NAV | Logic 7
EXTERIOR:
M-Tech Kit | M5 Mirrors, Trunk Finisher | Jet Black Kidney Surrounds | Madico Charcool Tint 54%, 35%
LIGHTING:
Euro-Headlights | Euro-LCI Tail Lights | AiB V3.0 | Solaris Invisi-bulbs | OEM LED Plate Lights
PERFORMANCE:
Porterfield R4-S Brake Pads | K&N Air Filter
WHEELS & SUSPENSION:
Work VS-XX 20x9, 20x10 | Toyo T1R 245/30/20, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 295/25/20 | KW V2 Coilovers | Rogue Engineering 15mm Spacers
So I want to paint my kidney grills Jet Black but my body shop doesn't recommend painting the stock chrome (because it chips off easily). I asked if they would sand it down first, but they don't want to do that either.
So I need your help guys. I know a lot of you have bought matte black grills off eBay, but not all of them fit flush with the bumper. The edges protrude inwards.
I'm looking for the OEM fitment replicas. Any of you guys know where to buy them before I click and pray on eBay?

Yeah that's what I figured that ICEMAN painted his. Are you experiencing any peeling or chipping? What do you mean by satin black? EuroRev wanted $70.15 a piece for each unpainted kidney grill (total $140).

My Ride: No mods
when i got my kit painted, I asked them to include the grills w/o charge. no chipping so far, 5k miles
satin black is different from matte black (not flat). cant explain it unless you saw it in person

Anyone who's replaced their stock chrome surround and black inserts (not the all chrome) kidney grills want to sell them to me? I would prefer local seller. Let me know. Thanks!

To be honest, I think the grilles that we have with the rounded edges look better than the square ones. The square ones look flimsy, but that's my opinion.
Go eBay, get them painted and you'll love it. You can't go wrong!
I get compliments ALL the time on the kidney grille. It's the first thing that people notice and what separates my car from other bimmers.

Yeah it's all a matter of preference. You like the beefy look, I like the cleaner lines.
bump for someone to sell me their stock kidney grills with the black inserts, not chrome!
