well not a coincidence and not helpful for him.

wheels are located in italy...

it will be cheaper for him to buy a brand new one here than getting all the way from italy that are in pretty bad shape.

I am in southern cali in ontario. I thought about repairing it but I read that it's not recommended. Do you know of any reputable company/person out here?
I've had original equipment alloy wheels repaired in the past with good success. Of course it's totally dependent on the shop doing the restoration. You might, as suggested, contact a local high-line auto dealer and ask the body shop manager who they have used. They ALL use this service to fix damaged wheels. Or call your insurance company and ask who their authorized repair shops are - Insurance companies use them ALL THE TIME!

That said, if a wheel is damaged severely it may be better to replace with a new BMW wheel. I see you've already contacted Gary. A number of other BMWCCA Roundel BMW Dealers advertise up to 25% off mail order / email order parts but Gary is well respected on this forum.

Good luck with your decision and replacement.

Has anyone heard of Mobile Wheel Repair. Some threads in m5board have mentioned this company. Apparently they do work for BMW dealers up north.
