Here's a quote from customdusty, our forum member.
1) Don't code it, deal with any error messages that pop up - they don't hurt anything, it's just a light on the dash. It's similar to driving in wheels without TPMS, the light is always on. As long as you disconnect your battery when you swap the clusters, your mileage data will be just fine. The cluster is just a read-out, all the data comes from your onboard computer. I used it this way since I don't tend to keep cars long.
2) Take it to a local BMW tuning shop and have them code it so you don't get any errors and correct any annoyance factor if you start with option #1. In many years of BMW tuning, I've found that many shops who say they do coding work simply have purchased the technology to interface with the car in order to do coding, but often lack overall skill and have a limited scope in what they can code.
3) Site sponsor/vendor modmynav - Either themselves or their affiliate in Germany can code it to your specific vehicle VIN and make it work seamlessly like it came from the factory. I think it cost about $150-$200 with shipping both ways to Germany when I checked it out.

Lowered to M cluster $230 Shipped! This will make a huge difference when your driving at night.
Instrument cluster is probably the thing that you see the most. This was the best mod for a small amount of money. Take advantage of this rare opportunity.

Sorry guys, I haven't logged in for a long time. I wasn't able to reply to the pm's. These have been sitting in my garage cabinet, so I want these gone. No longer have the e60. I'll lower the price to $100 for the shift knob and $160 for the cluster. Prefer local pick up-I live in OC. I'm open for shipping now.
