I am not sure if I am posting in the proper area, but I found this information so helpful, I wanted to share.

I have been trying to sell my OEM M-Tech Rear Bumper for a couple weeks. Thought I had it sold, but buyer backed out. The problem seems to be the price of shipping. I had received quotes from various shipping companies from $149 to $600. Yes, $600, for a $350 bumper. A fellow forum member has expressed interest in buying the bumper, and suggested we do Greyhound Shipping.

Unbelievable! Greyhound Shipping from Cincinnati to New York is less than $70!

Pros: Price

Cons: You have to take it to your local Greyhound Station, and the buyer has to pick it up from the local Greyhound Station.

But, for anyone looking to ship a very large item, which in my case is a box 78" x 41" x 23". I hope this helps all of you looking to sell/buy a large item.

Another good place to ship large or heavy items from is Forward Air. Usually, there's a terminal near any large airport. I shipped a very heavy transmission from Detroit to Houston for $80, and I shipped another transmission from Houston to Seattle for the same $80 about 2 years later (this was 4 years ago).

I found them to be much cheaper than UPS, FedEx, etc etc. The item has to be picked up from the terminal.

Maybe another tidbit.
I took my bumper to Greyhound last night in the huge 78" x 23" x 41" box. I have it packed with all kinds of carboard and packing materials to be sure it is protected. The package weighed 54.5 lbs. When the clerk discovered what I was shipping, she took me back where other items were waiting to be shipped, and showed me a bumper which was simply wrapped in foam & then shrink wrapped.

The bumper I shipped has two diffusers, and all kinds of other parts, so it may not have worked in my case, but it may work for you and cut the cost of shipping in half. It cost $87.05 to ship with insurance. I tend to error on the conservative side, as I always want the buyer to be very happy.

Thanks for sharing this good info.

I will be selling my new rear M-tech (non-PDC) bumper and may have to ship outside of Dallas/Ft.Worth.
