correct sold..thanks

Just to further close the loop, I received the interface, installed (took about 10 minutes), and have been enjoying it ever since.

Thanks for a smooth deal!

Just wondering, I also have an '05 545 and an iPOD I'd like to hook up. Did the kit you received include everything you needed, or was there some reprogramming of the iDrive that was needed? Also, what kit was this that you bought?

Hi there,

The kit had what I personally needed to get it hooked up. If your 545i has a cd changer (I think they all should) and will play MP3 files in the single slot CD drive, they you're all set programming-wise. The one I got was Part part # 65110036448, but there are other part numbers that will work, too. You can search for them on ebay and craigslist (I've found some CL sellers will ship smaller items if you pay with paypal ahead of time) by searching for BMW e60 iPod Interface MOST.

My car initially wouldn't play MP3s so I had to get the software updated and the dealership. They covered it under warranty. If you car is out of warranty, they'll try to charge you from $80 - $300 for the software update. If it's $80, I'd do the update. Some claim it helped their transmission shift more smoothly and certainly couldn't hurt. If it's $300, I'd look for another solution.

Once you have MP3 capability, it's a 20 minute install as the interface is plug and play.
