I have 19" style 167 wheels with 245/35/19 Front and 275/30/19 Rear Tires (Kumho Ecsta SPTs).

They are great for summer and some rain but aren?t meant from light snow or ice. I want to avoid changing rims for winter, so I am looking for 19" tire options that are all-season performance.

Any recommendations?

Great question and hopefully some others can chime in because I am curious which tires people love. One thing I read today, as I just picked up some 19' 167's and need some tires, is that the General Exclaim tires are M+S rated (Mud and Snow). I have heard very good things about them and they are really cheap in those sizes. I think there about $600 for a set of four in those sizes. Tirerack has them rated very high.

Depends on what you want to spend. The general exclaim UHP's are actually M+S tires - they don't get hard like summer tires do in the winter time and I've talked with guys in Michigan who have used them year round without problems.
Others are bridestone 960AS, goodyear F1 All season. I'd check tirerack.com for more options and consumer ratings. Bridgestone has a $100 rebate for those in the BMW CCA as well. Looks like they have michelin pilot sport all seasons and pirelli pzero all seasons as well.

Yes, I know. Just google general tire and on their website it says all season and something like "the tire you need for all road conditions and all weater conditions" -it actually says M+S on the side of the tire. I think they are OK for light snow, but not the deep stuff.

Thanks..the tire looks good...similar to the Kumhos I have...it's also a summer UHP tire.

I don't have an answer for the tire question but I would strongly recommend getting new wheels for your winters , these wheels damage easily and will get marred up when changing them back and forth , I just had a flat repaired by BMW and they chipped my 166's , just my opinion !

I had the general's on my 3 series for a couple years and had no problems with them, big bonus is that they have great tread life.

thanks..yes the wheels do need to be carefully handled. Thats the reason I want 'all-season' performance tires on them so that I dont have to change tires or wheels on the car. I noticed you are in Vancouver...similar weather as Seattle .. we dont get much snow or ice in the city but need the
all-seasons to hit the ski passes.
