For Sale: Dension Gateway 500 and spec.dock for BMW e61 pre LCI (with ashtray behind gearstick with cover). Just traded my e61 pre LCI for a newer e61 LCI and so the GW500 and spec.dock was removed in fully working order. I even have a bit of plastic that goes under the arm rest in the centre console with a USB socket attached so you can fit the Dension USB in there. The spec.dock is a lovely bit of kit which allows you to just drop your iPhone/iPod into the dock (OK, you do have to open the ashtray first) without any fiddley wires to attach. It works fine (and charges) and iPhone (original/2G), iPhone 3G or iPhone 4. I have the white apple dock inserts for both also which I will throw in. I am led to belive that it will also work and charge a 3GS but I never had one to test - sorry. I also never had an insert for an iPhone 4 - sorry. Because all my iPhones have always been in a case, I never used any inserts to be honest, works fine without but if you do not use a case for your iPhone/iPod, you will probably want to use an insert - you may have to source your own depending on what you have.
The whole lot cost me over $750 inc shipping from US (I bought the lot from the people that make the spec.dock in the US). Plus the USB socket I got elsewhere (included - with the plastic bit so you will not have to cut any wholes in your bit). Looking for £350 posted to you (UK only!!!).
iPhone/iPod NOT included!!! Nor the e61 either!!
It is a nice bit of kit! The gateway 500 is great and adds:
-iPod/iPhone integration to iDrive
-USB port (for HDD and USB sticks)
-RCA Phono plugs for AUX
-Still allows the CD Changer to work too but you do need to flick a switch to do so (never used the CD Changer once the GW500 was installed)
-Optional extras allow Bluetooth (for voice and A2DP) via an optional Dension BTA1500 adaptor and video via another optional adaptor - depends on your car though I think for video.
Then, the spec.dock adds a really nice dock for iPods/iPhones to work with the GW500 - especially in the pre LCI e60/e61 whereby the dock is nice and stealth under the ashtray lid but not as fussy as in the glovebox or under the armrest.
Very good bit of kit - both the GW500 and spec.dock and together they are even better!

Errm - UK only really - isn't it loads of hassle for customs/import duty and VAT?

@530D Lee - no probs - let me know. That looks like GWH in the pic?
@jas_r_1 - would rather not - but may do. I do know someone that would buy the Dension off (3 weeks ago!!) me but as he doesn't have an iPhone (only an old iPod), he has no real need for the spec.dock (he'd be happy to just leave his old iPod in the glove permanently).
