I don't believe the OP was trying to mislead anyone deliberately. Many people don't notice that small little dot next to the mileage. Or even if they see it they don't know what it means. He is correct in that it is plug and play and that the speedo will take the mileage from the car its plugged into.

Oh I missed that thread. I can re-code the clusters (see the thread https://5series.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=89727)

Once you used the uncoded cluster the chip will put your current VIN and makes it to read only (not possible to re-write so I have a tool that can re-write the VIN)

Yes, every cluster needs to recoded if you want to install the VIN. Otherwise it is plug and play but the VIN of other car will remain unchanged and may pop errors.

You will need this re-programmed if you want that . (dot) next to the mileage to disappear. That denotes that there is a mismatch between the speedo and the car.

that is right. Every cluster needs to recode.

Just curious, on a non-M E60, there's a fuel consumption gauge where the oil pressure needle is on the cluster. Is that corrected with the recode so that it'll show the oil pressure instead? How does that work? I have a SMG E60 545i and would like to do the mod in the future. Any input would be great. Thanks guys.

yes, it is possible and it is coding. It is easy. Let me know if you want the mod in the future.
