Imo It's not cause these are staggered... more important are offsets
my car is E61 xdrive and i have staggered setup.
Front are 19"x8,5" ET31 (Originally ET46 but i have 15mm spacers)
Rear 19"x9,5" ET31 (Originally ET51 but i have 20mm spacers)

*tire sizes... staggered and offsets are fine as long as the tire sizes (circumference) match to ensure no rolling difference [front and rear rolling at different speeds]
