I believe this works only on a list of "approved mobile phones" by BMW. If your mobile phone is not on that list, you will have to buy a new mobile phone. By chance do you know what mobile phones are capatible?

i have 03/04 545i SMG with NAV and Voice Control, but no Bluetooth function in the Communication menu, but i have the cellular phone Motorola in snap in adapter
do i need this TCU?

How, did you find out?
I think mine is fine (according the part number labeled on it) but has to be enable.
How much did you pay for enabling of the BT Unit?

European TCUs and North American TCUs are not compatible - beware! European TCU's uses GSM-based cellular services. USA used CDMA-based cellular. If your car is a euro-build, the US TCU cannot be activated. The converse is also true - you cannot dealer activate a Euro TCU on a US-spec car. Cross-reference part number applications.
