Do you have any pics? Ive never seen an E60 with door moldings but im almost positive that there are no holes, just adhesive tape

Most body side moldings are applied with double-sided tape. Easiest way to remove them is by using nylon fishing line to carefully "saw" through it. Then use an adhesive remover [like goo be gone] to get rid of the residue.

Another member had these moldings removed. I don't recall there was any holes after the removal.

Those are aftermarket parts and there is no way to be certain if the installer drilled holes. BUT it's highly unlikely that's how they were done. If you are uncertain / uneasy about how to proceed, take your car to a body shop - a good one will be glad to do it for you and fill and paint any holes that might have been drilled.

THERE ARE NO HOLES IN BMW DOORS FOR BODY SIDE MOLDINGS! Another way is to find who ever you bought the car from and ask them who put the BSMs on and they might remember how the install was done.
