I've been reading about some of you who want a cheap way to add Aux to get your external audio source working. Been there and done that. I'll help out. I'll get you the perfect Auxillary plug. I will provide instructions how to hook it up PROPERLY and all you have to do is possibly get your car coded if you do not already have the AUX option. Look for an independent shop that deals with BMW's. Should not cost you more than $100-$150 to code this. If you're in the Sunshine State send me a PM.
This can be used on any E39, E60, E46 and possibly others. I will give you complete "dummed" down instructions. Just pay me for effort in making the cord and shipping.
$55 shipped U.S.
$66.50 Shipped international
Better than BMW Part # 82 11 0 149 389
This will be in your glove box or you can run it into your center console.
Why this? because if you use the Aux in and then connect a male lead you are creating more room for electrical interference. Cut out the middle variable and go directly to the source.
If you bought or are about to buy BMW part # 82 11 0 149 389 you'll be disappointed in the sound quality and you'll be hacking the little thing up just to try to correct this, on top of wasting solder and so forth, so don't bother. I'll get you working good.
