Were you able to use the car to control your iPod with that cable?

 

Yes the cables works to make your ipod accessible via the car's idrive system. You need to have the USB and AUX port in your center console for this cable to be plug and play. I used it successfully with an iPod Touch, iPod Mini and iPhone 4S.
