Fifty grand is a lot of money, certainly in a recessionary economy riddled with layoffs, bailouts, furloughs, and pay cuts. In some parts of the country, that kind of cash would not only make for a healthy down payment on a home, it would also cover the entire cost of the home. Yet, when it comes to a premium mid-level sport sedan from a luxury automaker, whether with six- or eight-cylinder power, $50,000 is pretty much the price of entry.

But... you should be happy to know you got the best bang for the buck with your $50K.

"Recessionary economy." What recessionary economy???

It figures, even at such "old age" our cars are still better than the competition and I'm not talking just numbers. I'll take a 525 over a Lexus GS350 any day. The BMW driving experience is tactile and has nothing to do with numbers. It's the whole experience from the moment you open the door and sit down to the moment you get out and lock the door.

I was looking at all the other pictures of the competition, and even though they all had more buttons on the inside and whatnot, they all look very cheap with their chromatic interior looks. When you look at our interior, you can just smell the luxury and it's not all that "austere" as they claim in the article. Just a few weeks ago, I had to walk to the rear of the car while it was on and the dashboard caught my eye. What a beautiful, luxurious look it had. All that beautiful BMW red/amber almost gave me a chubby.

Also note, every single car on the list has some type of iDrive looking screen. Do you remember when they used to crucify BMW for iDrive? Do you see how stupid all those screens look with their dozens of buttons all around the screen? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the screen? Just imagine if your TV came with hundreds of buttons, one for each function and all around the screen. That would be dumb, wouldn't it? Let's all enjoy our E60 and let's all learn that we are a group of vocal fanatics who care too much about their cars. All the little annoyances that irk us are not even noticed by your average Joe. Our cars are great and they will be great for years to come. Let's enjoy them while we have the good luck to be able to afford them.
