Dido. I can't stand commercials. I also enjoy listening to the BBC and CNBC etc.. I don't get that on the regular radio. Why would I want to hear commercials and the local radio trash in high defintion.

I think that satradio is going to get buried by Net radio in the car.

I have been listening to Internet radio now for a while and I hardly ever punch in Sirius on the iDrive controller any more.

Satradio would be a more efficient means of pushing out Net radio if they could run thousands of channels but for now, if I want to listen to ?3, Bayern 3, Antenne Bayern, Bayern 4, or ?1, it?s via Internet radio - at home and in the car.

I agree, me thinks that Sat Radio has a fairly short half-life, at least as we know it today. Internet radio will either kill it, along with Howard S , or it will morph into something else.

Sure am glad I decided against buying the lifetime Sirrus membership last week when my SAT radio was activated during delivery. Dont get me wrong, I really like the SAT radio - but I'm pleased to have a chance to sit back and wait to see how things shake out before making any long term commitments.

I'm just more curious to see what services evolve IF and when the two merge. I presume it could only be better than what it is now, but it'll still be interesting to see what they offer.

I cant imagine that anyone with a lifetime membership wouldnt still be a member of the new entity. What a hell of a class action that would be......

I would agree, in the long term. By the way, how do you get Net Radio in your car? Certainly I enjoy it at home and in the office but have never heard of it in the car. It would seem that any application would suffer the same bandwith issue as Sat radio, but I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination!

Keep an extra Treo 750 in the car (prev used a 700w) plugged into AUX IN.

Interesting set-up. Now we just need somone to step up and build a wireless internet device that integrates with iDrive or whatever set-up BMW is using by the time it happens. Until then, I'll stick with Sirius or XM. The set-up you have is little different than an iPod, where all operational functionality is still at the device level. If they ever do build some integrated version and package the wi-fi internet connection at a price similar to Sirius/XM, I'll do it. And for longer trips, I still drive through fairly large areas where cell phone connection can be spotty, making a configuration like yours primarily an urban set-up at this point. At least in my backwoods part of the world, hell, I'm happy to have running water and electricity at this point!
