Anyway, a really interesting test. But the problem is with this test is that they tested tires in small sizes 195-65 16 etc.
This has nothing to do with performance tires like 225/50 17", 245/40 18" or even larger.
What I read from tests in German magazines the top performace tires for a E60 is Bridgestone Potenza RE 050 or Continental SportContact2.
Maybe some nice Michelin would also do.
Check, for instance: http://www.mytyres.co.uk/
And in my meaning - not RF's! The RF's are safe to ride with but they weigh a ton, are really hard (the extra metal9 and they make a h**l of tire noice.

As soon as I'm done with my factory supplied set of RFs I wil never look back
The ride is simply awful.
I will consider the PilotSport2 strongly as they are widely regarded as the best performance tyres around these days. Had a set of Eagle F1 GSD3s on a WRX and apart from tramlining issues and very soft sidewalls they have everything going for them. I would like to get more info and tests on the new Dunlop Sport Maxx as I get a good discout at the local Dunlop store but since the tyres are relatively new no info seems to be available.

My Ride: 2015 535D M Sport
Check out http://www.tirerack.com They have customer reviews and their own tests with lots of comparisons. I've never bought anything from them, but I always read their reviews before I make a tire buying decision. Yesterday it was for our minivan.

Concur with the Michelin PilotSport2. I have Brigstone Potenza S03 on my 20"x10" and 20"x9"on my car right now.
My 2004 530i is on aftermarket rims (iFORGED 3 piece) that are offset so this makes it so rotations is not finacially feasible. As you all know, the negative camber on BMWs doesn't help the "wear" situation either. Tis the price you pay to enjoy the ride!
Next tires I get will be the Michelin PilotSport2!
I too, will most likely use http://www.tirerack.com to get prices and then use Discount Tire Co. match prices and install.
Anything to help save some $$$.

But most of us need a tire, like above ratio 40

Ricracing,
The beauty is that well all LOVE to drive, thus need rubber, right?
That said, ALL tyre qualities (e.g. aspect ratios, dimensions, manufacturers/models, compositions, rating, treadwear, road roar, etc. ) should be considered for disussion so we are better educated.
Keepin' it real!
OK, the Michelin PilotSport2's looks nice (or whatever string you got for rubber) .
But most of us need a tire, like above ratio 40
