The new Automobile Magazine issue has a lot of details on the upcoming F10, due in 2009, including the spy photos we've all seen. I'm traveling and cannot scan it, but here are the highlights.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"A longer wheel base will boost rear seat room, while a wider track and a slightly lower ride height give the car a more ground-hugging stance. Inside, there's a new instrument panel, an optional HUD, and a center console angled toward the driver."
Cool drivetrain stuff: energy regeneration teaming with adaptive alternator control, biofuel and synfuel capabilities.
Transmissions to include:
6-speed manual
Steptronic (50% quicker and also can skip gears)
SMG to be enhanced with a faster-shifting evolution of the current one
Newest gizmo is a dual-clutch automatic.
Engine lineup:
3L six with 238HP (525i)
direct-injection 3L six with 272HP (530i)
bi-turbo DI 3L six with 306HP (535i)
4.8L V-8 with 367HP (540i)
bi-turbo DI 4.4L V-8 with 408HP (550i)
More new technologies go into the ride & handling: active rear suspension, stability enhancing active yaw control, and the next generation electronic damper controls.
Dimensions grow: length +0.4", wheelbase +2.8", width +0.1", height -0.6".
"The next M5 will have a more potent 550HP V-10, and it will definitely get the twin-clutch automatic. It bows in late 2010."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I can't wait.

My Ride: 335i Sedan
sounds all nice, but I think we might see most of these updates even before the F10 arrives. Most of the engines they speak of are about to be produced anyway except maybe the new 550i engine.
