From the article it sounds like, they have the JAVA platform running on-top of VxWorks.. Interesting. Anybody know for sure, hopefully its not running a Windows variant; could possibly explain some problems ppl are facing; blue screen of death! Anybody know what CPU the E60 has at its core? Just curious...

It should use Intel 2.4GHz instead.

Remember that's one of four MCUs. The main processor is but one of these four microcontrollers. The article outlines the specs of these 4. There are 70 computers/CPUs in the E60, running no fewer than 7 operating systems. The tasks and duties are compartmentalized.

One thing to keep in mind when talking about specifications of processors and other components in our cars -- these components must be able to function in extreme environmental conditions. You can't just slap an Intel Xeon processor into a car and expect it to work like it does in a PC...
