I attribute to an appreciation for fine craftsmanship and excellence in the latter vs. a preference for quirky and unique in the former.

I have not driven the new A6. But I must concede the interior finish of the Audi is superior to the BMW. Even the 7series is blown away buy the A8 with its suede lining ventilated seats etc.

I agree with HORMAZD. The A8 has not yet succumb to the gaping fish-face of the A4 and A6. It is a beautiful car inside and out...just less edgy than the BMWs. However, reliability is definitely not in it's favor! How many Audi 5000's have you seen running around lately in comparison to 15-20-year-old 5 Series BMW's? Just my observation.
