Best Luxury Car: Audi A6
The all-new A6 circles the luxury bases-beauty, performance, character, craftsmanship-better than anything in its class. If you're planning to spend $40,000 to $60,000 on a luxury sedan, the A6 should top your test-drive list.
PERFORMANCE: The A6 closely matches the performance of the benchmark BMW 5-Series, yet it's more luxurious and ergonomically sound and costs roughly $5,000 less. Choose Audi's new direct-injection, 255-hp V-6 or a mighty 335-hp V-8; both are mated to standard Quattro all-wheel drive.
DESIGN: The gaping grille is Audi's bold new signature. Inside, the Multi Media Interface, a single-knob systems controller, is as easy to use as BMW's iDrive is baffling. A CD player hidden in the glove box is the one sour note.
SAFETY POINT: Headlights turn in concert with the steering wheel to illuminate around curves.
Runner-up: BMW 5-Series

I know we are all biased here, but this is BS. I test drove the A6 a few times before stepping foot in a 5 series. Actually, I was originally looking to buy the A6 but decided to try the BMW. I never looked back.
First of all, the A6 similarly equipped to the 5 series isn't necessarily $5k less. And if you are leasing, which I imagine many of "Money" magazines business readers do, forget about it. Residuals on the A6 barely hit 55%, and the Money Factors are at least double the 5 series.
Second, the MMI in the Audi is similar enough to iDrive in the 5 (not the 7) that I can't imagine someone with a decent handle on gadgetry seeing that much of a difference.
Third, the A6 interior is very Honda Accord like IMHO, the BMW stands out in this category.
The biggest thing Audi has going for it is quattro. However, you do sacrifice handling and the BMW is much more a drivers car. I also question the reliability of an Audi over the BMW, I have heard horror stories from Audi owners.
my 2c.

They say:
DESIGN: The gaping grille is Audi's bold new signature.
I say:
That is one ugly grille, IMHO they should have stick to the old one.
What do you think about the new grille?
BTW I own an Audi TT too.
