I hope this has not been posted before...

International Engine Award of the Year 2007 did praice the new N54 engine (facelift 535i) with 3 awards:
Best 2007 engine, best new engine and best engine in the 2.5 - 3.0 litre class.

The N53 (facelift 523i, not available in US) engine won the 2.0 - 2.5 litre class.

Best Power Engine was the M5's V10.

In the 1.4 - 1.8 litre class the new Mini's 1.6 litre turbo engine won the award.

BMW engine has always beed one of the most powerful engine on the grid. It's just aerodynamics/tire setup that lets the car down.

But this year BMW-Sauber has made a lot of progress and currenlty ranking at #3 behind McLaren and Ferrari.
